Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Newsletter

In an effort to keep citizens better informed about crime, the Sheriff's Office has implemented a monthly Neighborhood Watch Newsletter. This newsletter includes safety and security tips relevant for the month and the time of year. It also includes information on recent crimes and crime trends in the county. The newsletter will also detail educational crime prevention training events that are open to the public. 23rd Annual McGruff Safety Camps

Loudoun County, Virginia- The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office announced today that applications for the 23rd Annual McGruff Safety Camps will be made available on Thursday, May 5, 2011. The applications can be downloaded at and must be mailed to: Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, 37 Catoctin Circle, SE Leesburg, VA 20175. Applications that are dropped off or faxed will not be accepted.

Due to popular demand, the Sheriff’s Office is offering morning and afternoon camps.  The dates for the weeklong camps will be June 27th – July 1st, July 11th – July 15th, and July 18th – July 22nd.  All camps run Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The camps, which will be held at Evergreen Mill Elementary in Leesburg, allow children who are entering Kindergarten and First Grade to learn various topics on safety including fire safety, bicycle safety and 9-1-1 emergencies.  Throughout the week children in the camp will have an opportunity to meet law enforcement officers, K-9 officers, plus a chance to see law enforcement and fire/rescue vehicles firsthand.

There is no registration fee, but donations are accepted.  The camps are for children entering kindergarten and first grade.  Registration is limited.

The camps began back in the summer of 1988 and have continued every summer through a joint effort between the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Services.


Neighborhood Watch Meeting

All participants of the NW Program, their friends and family and anyone else interested in the security of their Eastern Loudoun neighborhood are invited to attend a meeting on Wednesday, May 11th at 7:00 p.m.

The meeting will take place in the community meeting room and will be led by Deputy Specialist J.D. "Dale" Spurlock. Dale will discuss upcoming summer classes and to refresh everyone on the website and citizen alerts. You are also invited to bring your questions and comments about the NW Program in general.

The Eastern Loudoun Station is located at: 46620 East Frederick Drive in Sterling.


Board of Directors Meeting Rescheduled
